Walking on the Streams between Good and Evil
It’s only a matter of time before we all realize that good and evil goes beyond the aspect of life, that beyond even our greatest of imagination there are things- creatures per say that exist that are far more dangerous than we believe whether they be good or bad. Creatures that can destroy us just by having us see them or hear them, creatures the world we know cannot handle. I can tell you a story one that may send you into a mental hospital or have you die of fear and because I don’t know you…I will. A story about an enchanted forest where the streams between what is our world and another fiercer realm is thin. About to teenagers who thought they knew what to do but simply made things worse. This is the story of Alaina and Arsh.
Alaina and Arsh is a beloved couple that spent most of their time together on long walks. However, one day the two strayed off their usual path and ended up in a place they had never seen in the park: a forest filled with the strangest but most beautiful flowers ever seen, even the fragrance was none that a human has ever smelled, so precious was their discovery as they kept it a secret from the rest of the world. It became a usual place for them to hang out but one day they did something that would change everything.
“Arsh isn’t this flower just precious? I could keep it in my room and just enjoy the beauty forever! Arsh I want that flower” Alaina loved keeping flowers in her room and Arsh loved giving Alaina everything she asked for and so as she made the statement it was done.
Arsh picked the flower and handed it over to Alaina but something was odd, something had changed. Suddenly this beautiful purple flower had turned a dark brown and thorns started to stick out. As one stabbed Arsh on the finger, he dropped the flower as he began to bleed. How could this happen? How could it be? Something was not right something was strange.
Alaina stared at this occurrence with disbelief, how could such a beautiful garden create such damage? But then when she looked around the forest nothing looked the same. The trees that had hung so high and majestic now slumped over in greed. They threw shadows throughout the forest leaving nothing to be seen. What used to be a bright forest now became a shadowed place of doom. It seemed as if eyes peeked from all corners of the forest yet there was nothing to be seen. She looked back at Arsh who lay on the floor in pain. He too was seeing this change and shivered in fear.
“We should get out of here. Something doesn’t feel right. It’s odd what the flower did and even stranger what happened to the forest. We can’t just hang around and see what happens next.” Arsh stood and started to walk away with this comment but Alaina was not convinced.
“You’re right this isn’t normal but then when we found it we knew it was different. None of these flowers exist in our world nor do they have names, this forest is in a park and yet no one has ever seen it and that’s why we liked this place remember? Sure it isn’t comfortable here anymore but I feel that because we did this it’s our job to fix it too.” Alaina said grabbing Arsh’s hand.
He knew she was right and agreed to try but first they must get proper supplies. What had happened to the forest was not normal and lord knows what strange things wait ahead. First they will need something so they can see and other items to save them from whatever lives between these trees. So off the two of them went to get their supplies.
Alaina picked up a couple of flash lights, a knife, raw meat, a few snacks, and a sling shot. Arsh picked up a couple of flash lights, a dagger, a shovel, ropes, hooks, and a few other things he found in his dad’s storage. Than off the two went into the mysterious forest once more. However, when they reached there the forest had gone back to its beautiful self and the rose was gone. They decided to go on in anyway just to see why the forest had changed the way it had.
They agreed that they would not pick anything or move anything out of place. It was simply safer with the light and the forest at its calm. They walked deeper into the forest wondering what they would find and what they found was astonishing. Only a few feet away from where they started they found a river flowing it glittered and glistened in a rainbow beauty. Around it were creatures only found in fairytales. A lion body with bunny ears and horse’s tail, a camel’s hump with a giraffe’s neck and a lion’s tail, and many other creatures as strange as these. But what astounded the two teenagers most was that they were actually talking!
“I say it’s a wonderful day to take a walk don’t you think? My wife at home is quite excited that our children have gone out to play while she takes a day off in the Sun.” said one in a deep male voice. He almost sounded tired and old.
“Is that what you’re worried about? The break you are getting?! Oh dear how sad. You see last night I heard that our forest had been touched! A creature unlike ours picked one of our dear flower friends! Now isn’t that rude!” said a more sharp bell like voice.
The creatures continued their conversation as Alaina and Arsh walked away quietly not wanting to know what the creatures would do if they saw the humans. As they walked along the side of the river they came across a bridge that would let them cross to the other side.
“This side looks like we will never find answers lets cross the bridge maybe there is something there.” Alaina said thinking about the odd creatures.
“You’re right let’s go I want to know more about what we just saw. What are they? And HOW?!” Arsh replied exasperated.
The two crossed the bridge in no time at all but what they found on the other side frightened them and made them want to turn back. In front of their eyes was the forest they had seen after picking the flower but now it was alive! They could hear the place breathing almost as if it had been waiting for them both Alaina and Arsh grabbed their weapons close as they felt they had made a mistake. Arsh looked at Alaina afraid he would never see her again he began to soak in her beauty. Her glistening blue eyes that made him fall in love with her so many times, her brown silky hair that so elegantly flows over her shoulder, her rosy lips that had always drove him made when they would curve up to a smile, and her soft skin that brought comfort many times before when he needed it. I hope I see her again. I can’t lose her I love her; I will die protecting her if I must. He thought with a desperate mind.
Alaina knew what Arsh was thinking and she knew she felt the same way. She couldn’t imagine a world without his green-gray eyes or his perfect blonde hair or even his soft reassuring smile. She didn’t want to let go of his warm touch that always reached her heart if they were to die they would die together and that was a promise. Now as they slowly walked on they heard footsteps coming towards them and they froze.
Alaina pulled out her knife as Arsh pulled out his dagger and they stood back to back ready to face whatever came their way. However, what came out was nothing but an odd little insect creeping along. It had wings of a butterfly and body of a caterpillar with all its legs and a stinger of a bee. “What an odd little creature. Honestly the creatures in this forest look like they’ve been created by taking random parts of our creatures and gluing them together! And what a sound this little thing can make! It sounded like a bear!” Arsh exclaimed with shock and relief. What harm can a little insect do?
Soon an entire bucket load of them appeared and they slowly crept toward the humans. “Odd creatures are we? We will see about that! How odd are you? You barge into our home and invade our privacy and call us odd? What a shame it will be to eat you” said one with an eerie cricket type sound.
Arsh knew that it was time to get away but how? They were surrounded and there was nowhere to run but deeper into the forest and if they did that there was no telling what they would find or if they would be able to find their way back. He grabbed Alaina’s arm and ran into the forest. They could worry about the rest latter but first to escape. The little creatures flew after them but soon left as they reached an opening. It was an odd place in the shape of an eight edged star that looked big enough to be its own little forest. Although it was still day it was pitch black here and so Alaina and Arsh turned on their flash lights. In the middle of the opening was a fountain a dark one with oil like water inside. It was turned off and didn’t seem as though it had ever been used the surrounding wall was cracked every which way and the statue of a baby boy lay waiting to spit the water out. The odd part was that the baby’s eyes looked real! As if they were really watching; human eyes; a dark black color that would keep you from turning they captured your gaze. It looked as though the baby had been crying there were tears rolling down the eyes but of course that’s not possible but then again what they have seen so far…
They aimed their flashlight into the odd water and gasped at the sight. Headless bodies of infants and females drowned and bleeding! The water wasn’t black it was red! What frightened them more was that the bodies were still moving trying to escape almost as if from invisible chains. They quickly backed away and turned to go a different way. They soon came across a stone with writing on it that read: those who enter the forest are never to return. Doomed are they to be the life of the forest, the puppets from which the forest lures its prey. Where good and evil dance a dance of death beware the sight and sound of their raft. Good balances evil but neither are your friends.
“Ok now I am officially terrified. What is this place? Why wouldn’t we want to mess with good? Arsh I think we should get out of here” Alaina said backing away from the stone.
“No we have to stop this thing if I’m right than good and evil isn’t of our world this like hell and heaven or something and we crossed the bridge from heaven to hell and earlier when we picked the flower hell came to us. That means whatever lives in these forests can come out to the real world because of us.” Arsh replied.
So off the two went to figure out how to solve the mystery of the forbidden forest. What they soon found however are the confusious trees. They couldn’t remember what they did or when Alaina would hold Arsh’s hand and not know until after a while that she had done so and Arsh could talk about anything for hours before he even realized he was talking. They knew something was not right. Soon they past these horrid trees and moved on to the garden of poison. They knew they could not touch anything here because they read the sign that said so.
