Green grass tickle my toe, colorful flowers come and go, a soft white blanket cover the sky above me as I walk through the sweet scent of spring. Once before I had walked this beauty but then was a different story.
Dark clouds cover the sky, blood seeps through the grass, bodies were everywhere; some with their heads cut off, some missing a leg, some with their eyes rolling on their chest, some with their tongues torn out and others much worse; how did I get here? How did this happen? Didn’t I walk into a cave? That rainbow cave that seemed so inviting now feels like hell. How can something so beautiful be so horrible? I will always remember that what seems good on the outside may not always be the best in the inside.
A red man with wings that are as black as the blackest of nights and neon green hair, sharp teeth pointed into arches made especially for tearing things (like bones), growing tail in the back that grew as the man fed, glowing red eyes that bore through the skin flew right at me as I ducked just in time and it missed. I ran behind a rainbow rock unattractively stained with a wet red- blood.
“Ewe… gross! As if this place isn’t bad enough!” I screeched as I got blood all over my hands. I had to get out of here! I have to find that rainbow cave! I thought to myself. But the question was where would I look? This place is filled with rainbow caves! It is quite clear that what ever these creatures are came out from them so it isn’t a very smart idea. But somewhere there is one rainbow cave that takes me home. Wait a sec. these people dieing don’t look like they’re from here. They must have come from a rainbow cave too! I have to find the way out so that I can block that cave so that no one ever comes here again! Crawling on the bloody grass and getting my new pink tang top and my favorite blue jean shorts all bloody and gross, I made my way through all the bodies, heads, eye balls, etc. trying not to touch any of it. (Although I'm sure I crawled over eye balls a lot…ewe…) I tried to keep myself from shivering so that I wouldn’t get caught or lose balance. I was nearly through the maze when a pair of feet landed in front of me. I looked up to find one of those creatures but he isn’t a man, he is a she! She looked at me strangely but then gave me a hand at first I was hesitant but deciding I have no choice I give her my hand. She helps me up and tells me her name is Arthmoneous.
“Hi my name is Alyana…your not gunna eat me right?” I ask as tears fill my eyes.
“No. Me help Alyana run away. Me like Alyana. Alyana pretty and smart” she replies. She sounds like a six year old boy although she looks like she’s 12 like me. I nodded silently afraid I would laugh if I opened my mouth. Although she talked funny she is really pretty. Unlike the man I saw earlier her eyes are sea green and her teeth don’t have blood on them. She looks weak and skinny and you could see her paling even through the fading red of her skin. I wanted to say something but she interrupts me before I can even open my mouth!
“Alyana is girl I know but Alyana no have one but 100 caves to block. Girl must block cave from inside then go home and block cave from out. Cave no have color here. Cave is grey. Arthmoneous help find cave but Alyana no get bleed. Understand?” she spoke fast and broken but I understood every word. I couldn’t bleed because it would attract attention to us as as well as get her to desire my blood. (Ewe)
We walk through a different valley now, a darker, bloodier version of the one we past. The creatures here are also males but they do not have green hair in fact their hair was on fire! Their mouths are more like bird beaks and their hands more like claws. As soon as they see us they rush towards us as if we were friends and they were going to hug us but their glowing red eyes said other wise. The girl grabs me and pulls me into her and the cold from her skin makes me shiver. I feel the air swirling around us like a tornado. I open my eyes to find that the creatures are running around as if they don’t have a clue where we are. I was just about to ask but as if she could read my mind…
“We invisible. We no be seen. We find grey cave hurry me no strong long. Me die soon” as she says the last bit I can feel tears swelling in my eyes and that’s how I know I’ll never forget her.
We walk past the creepy things and the air moves with us. Now I can see it, the grey cave. But it doesn’t look like it was always grey, it looks like the colors were drained out of it.
“They remove color so people no want go but Alyana must save people more. Here no good, here hell no come back. Me be ok no worry” as she said this I realized I was crying. I wiped my tears and took a step away from her as the air around us comes to a stop. I watch her eyes role back into nothing and fall to the floor.
I know she’s ok because she doesn’t have to live in this horror anymore. I run backward for a while watching her body disappear. I turn around and go towards the nearest turn….why haven’t I noticed this before? I am really close to the exit but I stopped. Why block so many doors and still risk so many people coming in in the process? Besides it would be cool to be able to go anywhere in the world within minutes. So I made my decision. I'm going to go back and block the way to hell instead. So I run back from where I came, my bare feet pounding on the rough gravel. As soon as I reach I notice that my former friend is no longer there. I hold my breath and go forward to block this gate forever. I drag a giant rock to the gate of the cave and locking me inside the cave. I run straight ahead knowing that’s how I would get home. The second I get out I look at the cave knowing what I would see. No longer rainbow, the cave stood unattractive but I knew that I made the inside beautiful and I’ll always go to see the world inside.
“Arthmoneous get back here! Where are you going young lady?” I turn and see a six year old girl jump right at me and as I catch her I realize that she wasn’t just any six year old.
“Me say me gunna be ok! Alyana the best!” she says in a cheery voice I know oh so well. Her green eyes glowed and sparkled and I knew that my adventures would never be mine alone.
